There have been talks of Reliance’s JioMusic and Saavn Music app merger. Reliance Jio acquired majority stake of Saavn in March of this year. The launch of JioSaavn is basically a rebranding of Saavn app on iOS and JioMusic app on Android Google Play Store. The new JioSaavn app does not look that much different from previous Saavn. The Jio user are being offered complimentary 90-day pro service of the new JioSaavn app in which they get fully ad-free unlimited audio streaming.
Jio’s big move of launching JioSaavn is not too far ahead from the expected launch of Spotify the biggest paid music streaming service in India. According to some reports Spotify is finally deciding on officially launching their services in India sometime soon. Though globally Spotify is the biggest music streaming service provider its services are limited to North America, Europe, and Latin America.
On iOS app store Saavn app was rebranded to JioSaavn and the existing user of the app will be able to use all the features they have already been using and Jio users will be getting 90 days of complimentary service. The transfer of user data between the app will be seamless and the user playlist and library will be synced over to the new app. Whereas on Google play store the reverse seem to be happening. On Google Play store JioMusic app was rebranded to JioSaavn giving it a complete overhaul in the user interface. The rebranding of JioMusic to JioSaavn also gave it the user interface changes and it looks a bit more like the Original Saavn app. According to the reports some problems may occur during the transition but the process will soon be complete and user will be able to enjoy non-stop music streaming services without any hiccups.
